The bagpipes are commonly requested at most any event one can imagine, from birthday parties to anniversaries, from parades to graduations. Below you will find a list of various other services that Ryan offers, including a detailed description and associated fees.

Remember, Ryan is available for any special event you may plan, whether it is listed below or not. If you have a special request, do not hesitate to call or email Ryan.

Celebrations & Parties. Bagpipers are becoming more and more common as a novelty at parties of all kinds. Your piper will be a welcome change from the run-of-the-mill party entertainment and will provide your guests with something to talk about for quite a while. Such entertainment is perfect for anyone of Scottish or Irish ancestry who is celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or a holiday like Burns Night, Saint Patrick's Day, or Christmas.

At party events Ryan generally provides a 20 to 30 minute recital performing tunes from his repertoire and any other special requests. Ryan will of course engage, entertain, and educate your guests during his performances, discussing the history of the bagpipes and how the instrument works. Ryan will also gladly stay on to entertain any questions the recipient or guests may have and pose for photos.

NOTE: Ryan can appear as a surprise, though it does take some coordination between himself and the party planner. Be sure to let Ryan know if he is to be a surprise.

Religious Services. It has been to Ryan's pleasure that the presence of a piper during special religious services has been on the rise. Ryan performs throughout the year at religious services around the city, from Easter to Palm Sunday to Christ the King Sunday. He even provides ceremonial music at local "Kirkin' o' the Tartans" events, Scottish-themed church services in which the tartans of the various Clans of Scotland are blessed. Whatever your need, be it prelude music or offertory hymns, Ryan is delighted to be a part of your special religious services.

Graduation Exercises. Inspired by the film "Dead Poet's Society", more and more colleges and universities are engaging pipers to process before the graduating class during commencement ceremonies. Ryan plays annually for the Calhoun Community College graduation exercise and has also performed for the 2010 graduating class at New College at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The addition of a piper lends pomp and ceremony to the commencement exercise and makes that special day that much more memorable for the graduates, their families, and the faculty.

Educational Presentations. Ryan has delivered many educational presentations throughout his career, performing for all age groups at a variety of different venues. From educating kindergarteners and elementary school students at schools throughout Central Alabama or entertaining the elderly at retirement communities, Ryan enjoys sharing his art form with everyone. He enjoys engaging his audience, peppering his recitals with historical information and humorous anecdotes. Ryan's goal is not only to entertain and regale, but to stimulate and inspire his audiences with a sense of their own connection to history. Ryan will also gladly stay on to entertain any questions the recipient or guests may have and pose for photos.

Parades & Processions. Parades and processions can take place at any event on any occasion. The vision of the piper on the march leading a grand cavalcade is familiar to all of us, from movies and film to the familiar story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Every year Ryan leads the Saint Patrick's Day parade through the streets of Downtown Birmingham and Southside with his pipe band. For several years his band participated in the Christmas parade in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Also during the Christmas season, he and several other pipers would process a horde of jubilant children through the corridors of the Country Club of Birmingham for their holiday party. Parades are fun for all ages and create a real sense of excitement for any occasion, be it a national holiday, a sporting event, or a religious procession.

Additional Services. Aside from the services listed above, Ryan strives to honor any and every special request. Each special event package is highly customizable. If there is an additional service you require, please let Ryan know. As a professional musician, he is dedicated to the complete satisfaction of all of his clients.

Mileage Fees. For all bookings outside of the Birmingham city limits a mileage fee of $.55 per mile roundtrip will be added to the final quote.

Out-of-state Bookings. Ryan will travel throughout the region. For distances over 350 miles lodging and accommodations must be provided by the client.
